City of Houston Mayor’s Fund to Reduce Homelessness

$2.5 million was granted to the City of Houston Mayor’s Fund to Reduce Homelessness, created in 2018 after Houston’s homeless population increased for the first time since 2011 due to Hurricane Harvey. The Qatar Harvey Fund is the “Founding Funder” of this new initiative by Mayor Sylvester Turner. Administered by the Greater Houston Community Foundation, the grant will fund the Housing Harvey’s Homeless (H3) initiative, a targeted outreach and long-term housing plan for up to 135 individuals.

Status: The H3 project commenced in August 2019 and has been concluded after successfully meeting its goals.

100% of funds have been disbursed.

“I want to thank the Ambassador of Qatar and the people of Qatar for the support they’re giving to the City of Houston, Harris County and the State of Texas.”

Sylvester Turner, Mayor of Houston
